Performance Assurance Solution Specialist – South Africa
Accedian Performance Monitoring
- Accedian specializes in end-to-end network performance monitoring (PM) solutions, used to assure hundreds of thousands of networks and services worldwide. Their integrated solutions can be tailored to assure a wide range of quality of service (QoS)-critical applications.
- Beyond supporting the widely adopted TWAMP (RFC-5357, layer 3) and Y.1731 (Ethernet OAM) PM standards, Accedian solutions extend basic metrics to hundreds of KPIs including per-flow utilization and availability. Statistics for each of these KPIs are calculated and stored on the fly: percentiles, min / max / average, standard deviation, and more—providing deeper insight into specific flow characteristics and trends.
- A variety of test endpoints are right-sized to fit a wide range of applications, locations, and business cases. Sessions can be conducted to Accedian Performance Elements, to smart SFPs & copper GbE Modules (Nano & ant), to network elements’ with standards-based PM support, and to software agents that can be embedded into devices, virtual machines, and even handsets
- Loopback testing, in-service throughput testing, and OAM functionality allow operators to quickly isolate and resolve end-to-end performance issues remotely without sending a truck and technician.
Accedian SLA Assurance
- Once the service is operational, continuous performance monitoring and OAM provides real-time fault and QoS visibility for all VLANs, services, or applications using the circuit.
- Measurements include all key SLA performance metrics: one-way latency, one-way jitter, continuity, service usage, packet loss, and available throughput.
- Accedian’s extensible performance and SLA management platforms automate, coordinate, and visualize data in real-time, making Network State+ performance data to leading monitoring, management, and support systems.
Accedian Virtual Performance Monitoring With Smart SFP
- Accedian’s SkyLIGHT VCX is a software system virtualized on a VM Host.
- VCX act as the CPU for smart SFP and Copper Gbe modules , in an NFV-like setup.
- The smart SFP Nano module and Copper Gbe modules facilitate remote troubleshooting to assure service quality (Layer 2 or 3)—no need to send technicians and equipment into the field.
- Operators can perform turn-up tests from a central location, eliminating the need for on-site technician visits and expensive hand-held devices.
- Automated provisioning minimizes deployment costs and accelerates roll-out.
- Enables legacy systems with standards-based assurance features.
- Supports and increases revenue streams.
- Smart SFP Nano modules and Copper Gbe modules enable rapid testing for troubled network paths, leading to faster fault isolation to guarantee customer satisfaction.
- Operators can upgrade their network devices with smart SFP Nano modules and Copper Gbe modules , allowing them to offer SLA-based services that previously were not cost efficient.
Accedian Turn-Up Testing
- Typical throughput testing techniques, such as RFC 2544, are considered ‘disruptive’ and can only be executed when customer services are not running. This means when a customer calls in to say their service is not performing as expected, the service provider needs to take the customer out of service to identify the issue.
- Accedian’s solutions deliver non-disruptive service validation, including capacity and throughput, by using end-customer traffic as part of the test pattern and generating supplemental test traffic in real-time to ‘fill out’ idle gaps. This approach allows operators to test customer service performance during normal business hours, without taking the customer out-of-service.
Zero Touch Provisioning
- Accedian’s zero-touch provisioning dramatically lowers OpEx.
- Imagine an install so fast, so simple, that even your customer can do it. Imagine integrated intelligence that senses which ports are connected and instantly flows traffic. With Plug & Go, Accedian’s devices configure their own management settings and alert you when they’re online, so you can take control and finish the job from your desk. The automated Plug & Go process was designed by service providers, and it makes installing Accedian NIDs as easy as installing a cable modem.
- Here’s how it works: Send a factory preset Accedian unit to your customer. They plug in the power, client and network cables, then walk away. The NID ‘listens’ to determine how it’s connected, auto-negotiates, and data starts flowing. It knows the port, the media, and the speed. When it hears the management beacon from a central Accedian device, it self-configures to your specifications. It can assign itself an IP address in the subnet of your choice, or receive one from a DHCP server. It connects to your management VLAN, if any, and then advertises its presence. Any Accedian device with inventory tracking activated adds the new site to its catalog. Click-through to the unit and you’re ready to create and assure your Ethernet services.
